Electronic products are defined by their BOM. Getting the BOM right is the most critical step β everything else follows.
A complete BOM should include: PCB specifications (layers, material, thickness, copper weight, surface finish), all ICs and microcontrollers with part numbers and acceptable alternatives, passive components (resistors, capacitors, inductors) with exact values and tolerances, connectors and cables with mating specifications, power requirements (voltage, current, connector type), housing/enclosure materials (plastic mold, metal, silicone), and packaging specifications for each component.
